Walk on Beach - 5 June 2011 |

Environment
Day
is
commemorated
on 5
June
every
year,
this
year
it
was
a
Sunday
and
Friends
of
Rietvlei
decided
to
take
a
walk
along
the
coastal
area
of
the
Rietvlei
Wetland
Reserve.
We
asked
people
to
bring
along
refuse
bags
as
we
intended
picking
up
litter
on
the
beach
during
the
walk
-
our
contribution
to
World
Environment
Day. |

The
morning
saw
a
bit
of
rain,
and
the
weather
was
rather
blustery,
thus
it
was
no
surprise
that
only
six
people
turned
up
for
the
walk.
However,
armed
with
refuse
bags
we
set
off
and,
although
we
did
not
walk
very
far,
we
did
manage
to
fill
six
bags
with
refuse
and
litter
that
had
washed
up
onto
the
beach. |
