Bird Hide Walk - 18
August 2007 |
|
|
|
|
We
had
a
most
pleasant
walk
on
Sunday
18
August
2007.
Quite
a
number
of
people
joined
us
for
the
walk,
many
of
them
non-members
-
several
have
joined
up
since.
The
water
levels
were
quite
high
after
the
heavy
rains
at
the
end
of
July
and
early
August,
but
we
could
get
to
the
bird
hide
without
getting
our
feet
too
wet.
There
were
a
few
pelicans
feeding
quite
close
by,
and
several
sitting
on
their
favourite
island.
Egyptian
geese,
cormarants,
sacred
ibis
and
a
few
ducks
displayed
themselves
to
us.
The
group
spent
some
time
in
the
bird
hide,
then
walked
back
through
the
bird
hide
block
to
the
shore
of
north
lake,
and
from
there
back
to
the
Education
Centre.
View
some
pictures
of
the
group
on
the
next
pages.

Lots
of
interest
in
the
birds
off-camera. |
|
|
|
|
As
can
be
seen
the
water
level
was
still
quite
high. |

Three
weeks
before
this
the
boardwalk
was
completely
under
water. |
