The
view
across
Rietvlei
from
the
parking
area
in
front
of
the
Educational
Centre
(actually
from
next
to
the
parking
area
as
all
of
it
was
under
water). |
|
|
|
|
Now
that
is
the
parking
area! |
|
|
|
|
The
road
and
picnic
areas
just
past
MAC. |
|
|
|
|
MAC's
beautiful
lawns
under
lots
of
water. |
|

|
|
The
western
peninsula
between
North
and
South
Lakes
where
the
pelicans
normally
roost
is
now
an
island. |
|
|
|
|
It
may
be
an
island,
but
the
pelicans
are
still
there! |
|
|
|
|
The
new
bird
hide
is
slightly
inundated, |
|
|
|
|
Two
bird
hides
are
rather
isolated |
|
|
|
|
The
old
bird
hide
from
the
R27
-
the
birds
find
the
roof
a
useful
perch
to
keep
their
feet
dry. |

Nature
conservation
staff
just
north
of
the
Otto
du
Plessis
Bridge
on
the
R27
-
they
easily
boated
all
the
way
from
the
Milnerton
Aquatic
Club. |

of
the

The

from
the

near
the

Bridge. |

|
This
floodplain
next
to
the
R27
below
the
Otto
du
Plessis
Bridge
is
normally
dry. |
|
|
|
|
At
the
estuary
the
water
is
flowing
out
rapidly. |
|
|
|
|
It
was
interesting
to
see
that
the
water
from
Zoarvlei
which
enter
from
the
canal
in
the
foreground
is
much
more
clear
than
the
muddy
Diep
River
waters. |
